A hockey pitch is the playing surface for the game of field hockey. Historically, the game was played on natural turf (grass) but nowadays, it is predominantly played on artificial turf. The transition onto artificial pitches came during the 1970s and was made mandatory for major competitions in 1976.
Artificial turf is a surface of synthetic fibres made to look like natural grass. It is most often used in arenas for sports that were originally or are normally played on grass.
Pictured here is the West Devonport Hockey Club in Tasmania which uses an ASC Eureka M3 Petrol synthetic grass sweeper to keep their synthetic grass in good order.
Tasmania has a vibrant community that is heavily vested in field hockey and ASC is helping to them keep playing their favourite sport.
ASC has a comprehensive range of artificial turf sweepers that can help maintain all forms of outdoor astro turf.
