The Client

Deakin University was established as Victoria’s fourth university. It has now operated for more than 50 years and is recognised globally as one of Australia’s leading universities.

The Challenge

Deakin University covers a very large footprint.

The campus has many kilometres of roadways, underground carparks as well as workshops that need sweeping daily.

The facility had an array of dust and leaf issues that need to be swept to keep the facility clean.

Deakin sought the expertise of ASC to recommend a fit for purpose sweeper, that could maintain the complex on a daily basis.

The University emphasised the need for a sweeping machine that was quiet in operation.

They did not want a noisy sweeper that would potentially disturb the faculty classes, students and staff, or surrounding areas.

They also preferred a sweeper that would be easy to operate, as the University has multiple cleaning operators.

A long run time (5 to 6 hours per charge) and a track record of proven reliability was required, as the University did not want to invest in a high maintenance sweeper, given its geographic location to Melbourne.

The Result

Deakin University invested in an ASC battery powered G5 road sweeper.

The machine fitted their requirements, proved to be highly manoeuvrable and fitted their allocated budget.

The machine was also road registered so that it could be used to sweep public roads.
