M & P Engineering Powder Coating Dust Issue

M & P Engineering is a steel fabrication and engineering business, based in Crestmead, QLD

The Challenge

The challenge was to find a solution to replace electric vacuum cleaners to clean their metal powder coating rooms.

Powder coating is a dry coating process used as a metal finish. Powder coating is applied as dry powder through an electrostatic process, then cured with heat.

This coating dust is lightweight, high in concentration, easily stirred up and difficult to sweep manually.

The traditional cleaning process is very slow and the company was looking for an alternative to greatly increase labour productivity in this area of their business.

ASC’s Sweeper expert, Rafael Rodrigues, was asked how this could be achieved.
