Yancoal Australia Hunter Valley NSW Large Capacity Requirement

The Client
Yancoal Australia Ltd operates out of Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW).
It is an integrated operation of two open cut mines, located adjacent to each other, 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales.
They use a dragline truck and shovel method.
Employees work in shifts to keep the mine operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week. After being washed and prepared for sale, the coal is loaded onto trains for transportation, 90 kilometres to the Port Waratah Coal Terminal in Newcastle. This site is also swept by ASC sweepers.
The Challenge
Yancol Australia had a requirement to sweep their stores, workshops, and roadways.
Swirling winds, farm dust and coal dust were ever present on the roadways.
The company required a sweeper that had the capacity to hold large quantities of debris, yet offer truck size sweeping width, to minimise labour manpower sweeping.
The machine would also be tasked with maintaining their large stores and massive workshop areas.
Yancoal’s workshops service massive Caterpillar dump trucks, that bring large clumps of coal dust and mud into the facility.
This bulky debris needs to be swept every few hours to ensure a clean dust free workshop, as well as minimising any airborne dust build up.
The Result
The company purchased an ASC Eureka M8 diesel powered mine sweeper.
ASC’s Scott Campbell delivered the machine to site and arranged all the necessary handover material required by Yancoal.
